CLOVER GRASS MIXTURES
CLOVER-GRASS MIXTURES
Clover-grass mixtures present fodder producers with a versatile and complete selection of nutrients. Clovers and grasses have different requirements regarding soil and climate. In sowing mixtures come to the fore all the qualities because they complement each other. Clovers have a deeper root system and draw food from deeper layers of soil, and enrich it with nitrogen. Contrary to the 9weaker growth conditions of clover-grass mixture give a safer and higher yield.
TECHNOLOGY OF PRODUCTION OF CLOVER GRASS MIXTURES
1.SOIL PREPARATION - we prepare the soil to a small lumpy structure, so that the seeds provide favorable conditions for germination, and young plants good conditions for rapid emergence, initial growth and development.
2.SOWING TIME-time suitable for sowing grassand clover is from spring to autumn. In the summer, there is often a lack of moisture,so we sow in spring or in autumn. In the fall there is a risk of poor overwintering of clover, so we sow them no later than the beginning of september.
3.SOWING CROPS-we sow machine with grain seeddrillor or special grass seeddrills. Before sowing, we scatter the following amount of fertilizer:50 kg N/ha,80-120 kg P2O5/ha and 120-160 kg K2O/ha. Fertilization before sowing depends on the stock of soil with nutrients(soil analysis). Sowing depth 1-2 cm. After sowing, we roll the soil in order to achieve the best possible contact of the seeds with the soil and thus better germination of seeds.
4.SEED QUANTITY-for all mixtures the amount of 30-35 kg/ha is recommended. In adverse climatic and field conditions, or at later sowing, the amount of seeds can be increased by 20-30 %.
5.PROTECTIVE CROPS-protective crops we use in spring sowing. It is primarily used oats (50-60 kg/ha), jari barley (90 kg/ha) and Italian shell (5-10 kg/ha). We mow the protective crops before the start of the weaving so that they do not interfere too much with the growth of young plantations . After mowing protective crops, young crops of clover grass mixture are fertilized with about 50 kg N:P:K/ha
6.HEATING AND BOILING- if the plantation is damaged or rare, we can restore it by boiling with a specific sower or manual sowing. For boiling with spec.sowing adds 2/3 of the normal amount of grass and clover seeds to ha.
7.FERTILIZATION with respect to the intensity of use(3xmoning,4x mowing)fertilizer should be added.
8.METHOD OF USE-By the method of use we distinguish between basket, pasture and pasture use.
In basket use we usually have 4 mowings, in pasture or pasture-basket use we have 3-4 pastures and 2 mowings. Pasture should be done at the stage of formation of stems and growth, and mowing in the stage of mulching.
